DFWMM 2014 Diwali Competitions Form

General Rules
·          Individuals willing to participate should submit the competition entry form online by Nov 5, 2014.
·          DFWMM won't be able to entertain any late entries/requests.
·          Finish on time to avoid disqualification.
·          Bring your material at your own risk.
·          Judges’ decisions will be final for all competitions.
·          Expenses incurred for making the competition material/exhibit to participate in these competitions are to be borne by the participants.
·          Committee reserves the right to allow or disallow last minute participation.
·          Committee reserves the right to cancel any competition due to any unforeseen circumstances.
·          Committee reserves the right to override any decision.
·          The number of winners for each competition will be decided based on the number of participants and at committee's discretion. (?)
·          We request you all to participate in a good sporting spirit! Idea is to have a fun together while we celebrate our rich culture. JOY is the real deal!! Win or lose, we'll still dance together on the tune! 
 
Rangoli
Duration – 1hour 30mins (max)
Time – 3:00PM to 4:30PM
Age group – 14 and up (members only)
 
·          Important to use ‘DRY and EASY TO CLEAN MATERIAL ONLY!’
·          Rangoli can be drawn at the designated hallway for this competition.
·          DFWMM will provide a poster board size 22" x 28" taped to the floor to each participant.
·          Rangoli can be made in any shape/design that fits the poster board size. Designs/decoration exceeding the poster board will be disqualified.
·          Participant need to bring their own rangoli/ decoration material. Different dry materials can be used for rangoli (e.g. flowers, rice, colors etc.).  
·          Venue is strict about not using any decoration or material that may leave any stains/marks behind. Violation of this may lead to a fine to the DFWMM/an individual.
·          No flame diyas/ burning candles allowed. Violation of this may lead to a fine to the DFWMM/an individual. Use of LED candles is permitted.
·          Participants will be given a number ID card to display next to their Rangoli.
 
 
Marathi Hastakshar
Time – 3:00PM to 5:30PM
(Visit the competition desk between that time to write and submit your entry)
Age groups – 5-10 years and 11-15 years (members only)
 
·         Conducted only in the room/area designated to this completion.
·         DFWMM will provide a writing material to share with others.
·         DFWMM will provide one ruled sheet per participant to write on.
·         Participants will need to write a passage or a poem from the display board on to the given sheet in the given time.
·         Participants will be given a number ID card to label their sheet. Handwritten sheets are to be left back in the appropriate collection tray.
 
Akash Kandil
Time – Entries will be accepted at the event venue between 3:30PM-5:30PM
Age groups – All (members only)
 
·         Make your Akash Kandil together with your family before the competition and bring it at the event venue on Nov. 8th 2014.
·         Entries will be accepted at the event venue between 3:30PM-5:30PM
·         Special care should be taken while preparing Aakash-Kandil to avoid any fire. Mandal has to abide by fire codes at the program venue.
·         Electrical outlets will be provided for Akash Kandil
·         Make sure your Akash Kandil has strings tied on the top to hang it for a display.
·         All the entries will be labeled with the Participant’s ID and exhibited in a designated hallway.
·         Venue is strict about not using any decoration or material that may leave any stains/marks behind. Violation of this may lead to a fine to the DFWMM/an individual.
 
 
Faral
Time – Entries should be displayed at venue no later than 5:30PM (venue opens at 3:30 PM)
Age group – 20+ (members only)
Categories – Chakali and Karanji
 
·         Competition will be held for two categories - Chakli and Karanji
·         To allow more individual winners we are limiting the participation to only one category per person.
·         Items to be prepared before and brought to the event venue to participate in the competition.
·         Participants should finish the display/arrangements by 5:30PM (venue opens at 3:30PM).
·         Please bring minimum 5 pieces for each entry.
·         Tables will be provided to display your exhibit with an ID.
·         Special presentation/arrangements or decorations are encouraged.
·         Items will be judged for Taste and Presentation.
·         Venue is strict about not using any decoration or material that may leave any stains/marks behind. Violation of this may lead to a fine to the DFWMM/an individual.
   
 
Make a Fort (Killa spardha)
Time – Entries should be displayed at venue no later than 5:30PM (venue opens at 3:30PM)
Age group – 3-16years (members only)
 
·         To be built at home on a 22”x28” poster board.
·         The built structure shouldn’t exceed the board size.
·         The built structure should not be taller than 18”-20”.
·         To be prepared before and brought to the event venue to display in the competition.
·         Participants should finish the display of their fort by 5:30PM.
·         Different material can be used (e.g. fast dry clay, legos, kennex pieces etc.)
·         Tables will be provided to display your exhibit with an ID.
·         Special write ups/arrangements or decorations are encouraged.
·         Items will be judged for the concept and presentation.
·        Venue is strict about not using any decoration or material that may leave any stains/marks behind. Violation of this may lead to a fine to the DFWMM/an individual.
 
 
Best Dressed Couple (A couple is defined as one male and one female)
·         It is a spot competition
·         Come dressed in your best festival clothes
·         2 winning couples will be invited on the stage and will be asked a surprise fun question
